FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - New year, new generation: several families and hospitals across the Central Valley have welcomed their first 2025 babies.
These new babies are a part of the new Generation Beta- and the majority were girls.
Fresno County
In Fresno, proud parents Chelsey Davis and Robert Medina Jr. welcomed Downtown Fresno's Community Regional Center's first 2025 baby girl at 1:22 a.m. Wednesday. The baby, Divine Faith Medina, was born weighing 7 pounds 14 ounces and bit over 20 inches long.
Officials say the parents of little Divine initially arrived at the hospital on Christmas, but the baby was "not quite ready to be born." Her parents went back to the hospital on New Year's Eve and Divine made her debut just after midnight to ring in the new year.
At the Kaiser Permanente Fresno Medical Center, parents and staff also welcomed the birth of the facility's first 2025 baby girl, Zoey Artunin. The baby was born at 6:11 a.m. on Wednesday.
Tulare County
Kaweah Health facility welcomed their first 2024 baby boy, Noah Carmona. He made his debut at 12:47 a.m., weighing 8 pounds 12 ounces.
Hours later, the hospital welcomed its first 2025 baby girl, Leanna Venegas who arrived at 6:01 a.m. weighing at 7 pounds and 12 ounces.
Kings County
Adventist Health in Hanford shared a picture showing proud parents Rachel and Jordan Kangas holding their first child, which is also the health facility's first baby in 2025.
According to officials, baby girl Amelia Jana Kangas was born at 6:57 a.m. on Wednesday, weighing at 8 pounds and 9 ounces.
According to the author and demographer credited with helping define the past two generational labels, Mark McCrindle, Generation Beta will include those born between 2025 and 2039. They are anticipated to be extremely tech-savvy and very curious.
