LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - After a relatively mild week that ended in snowy system, we are looking at a cold weekend forecast. Winter weather alerts stick around till the 9am hour for much of eastern Kentucky, with quick passing snow bands persisting throughout the first half of the day. Most of the area will only see a few lingering flakes by the time we look to Saturday afternoon. Temps will stay chilly in the area with them peaking in the mid 30s.
Sunday things stay calm and cold with temps only peaking in the mid 30s but skies will allow some sunshine to peak out across the board. Clouds thicken Monday allowing us to see a rainy Christmas Eve Forecast and a wet Christmas Day. Temps by the end of the week will be warm enough that they are in the mid 50s for Thursday and Friday.
