ROCK HILL, S.C. - Affinity Health Center will be closed for the rest of the week after a security incident at the facility Tuesday. The Rock Hill Police Department was called to the center after receiving reports of a woman carrying a firearm and handling it while inside the health center. Officers were also told that she was shooting the gun. Because of that, police responded as if this was an active shooter incident.
Officers arrived on scene and found the woman inside the building. She had not fired any shots. Police say she surrendered without incident, they seized her handgun, and secured the building.
The staff at Affinity Health Center had already started evacuating themselves and put lockdown procedures in place before officers arrived. Officers helped evacuate the remaining people inside, and provided security for the people who were already outside the building.
The woman has been identified as 26-year-old Serenity Stroud of Rock Hill. Police took her to the Piedmont Medical Center after they were told she had ingested unknown medications. Once she is released from the hospital, she will be transported to the Rock Hill Jail and will be served warrants for Breach of Peace of a High and Aggravated Nature and Pointing and Presenting a Firearm.
The health center's pharmacy walk-up window will be open Wednesday & Friday from 8a-4p.
