Lexington Coal Company LLC was held in contempt for the third time after a federal judge ruled the mine operators continues to fail orders to remediate environmental damages in West Virginia.
The company is still not compliant with directives to reduce toxic discharge like selenium and ions from its two mines in Mingo County, the US District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia ruled.
"Lexington Coal's disrespect for the environment and this court's orders has permeated every stage of this litigation," wrote.
