Some mistakes go down easy, especially when they result in Irish whiskey - The Boston Globe

Naming an Irish whiskey after a toad might seem peculiar. But the natterjack -- a species native to Ireland with a distinctive yellow stripe running down its back -- lends its name to a new Irish whiskey that's also unique. Natterjack Irish Whiskey is crafted with a twist: while it follows traditional Irish whiskey methods, it borrows bourbon-making techniques. Aged for over three years in bourbon casks, as Irish whiskeys are, it gets an extra year of finishing in new charred American oak barrels, much like bourbon. It's already won several awards at competitions.
