AEW is sticking with their UK broadcast partner

Sean Rueter has been thinking too much about pro wrestling since at least WrestleMania I, and blogging about it for SBNation & Cageside Seats since around WrestleMania 28.

With WWE moving not only Raw but its entire streaming Network to Netflix for much of the world on Jan. 1, there are some major international television outlets that could be in the market for wrestling content.

AEW took the timeslot WWE vacated in Mexico. TNA grabbed the opening WWE's exit creates on Sportsnet in Canada. AEW was reportedly interested in partnering with the Rogers-owned Sportsnet, but couldn't get the deal done. But Wrestling Observer Radio's Dave Meltzer says AEW owner & president Tony Khan never considered changing partners in the United Kingdom, with Khan telling Meltzer, "We're staying on ITV."

Today (Dec. 24), AEW and ITV agreed to extend their partnership for another year. ITV has been AEW's broadcast partner in the UK since the promotion's launch in 2019.

Here's the press release ITV sent out announcing the extension:

AEW extends free-to-air deal with ITV

AEW (All Elite Wrestling) and ITV have agreed to an extension of their existing UK rights deal.

ITV will continue to show weekly episodes of AEW programming, with AEW Dynamite every Friday night and AEW Collision every Wednesday night on ITV4 and ITVX.

The renewal for 2025 takes ITV into its sixth year as AEW's free-to-air UK partner, first broadcasting AEW Dynamite in 2019.

"We are thrilled to extend AEW's partnership with ITV to continue bringing the best wrestling action to fans all across the United Kingdom," said AEW CEO, GM and Head of Creative Tony Khan. "We thank all of our incredible fans in the UK as well as everyone at ITV for their loyal support of AEW since our inception."

Richard Botchway, Commissioning Editor at ITV, said: "We are proud to continue to be the UK free-to-air broadcast partner for AEW. We're looking forward to continuing our relationship into 2025, bringing the UK audience every minute of action across ITV and ITVX."

AEW has run shows in the UK the past two years. While they won't be bringing their All In show back to Wembley Stadium this year, Forbidden Door will take place in England at a TBA time on Aug. 24, 2025.
