SHREVEPORT, La.--Around 1:30pm on Sunday, December 22nd, the Shreveport Fire Department responded to a fire on the 1700 block of George Washington Carver Avenue within the Martin Luther King Jr. community.
It took the efforts of twenty-one firefighters operating eight units to bring the fire under control.
No one was home at the time of the fire. Upon investigation, it was determined that the fire started from flames from a lit gas stove in the home. The homeowner returned and admitted to leaving the stove lit to warm the home.
