This Weekend in the Adirondacks: Cool, blustery, with some much-needed rain

In the Adirondack High Peaks on Saturday, sunrise will be at about 6:44 am and sunset at about 4:34 pm.

We're looking at a blustery day today, dry and cool weather tomorrow and some much-needed rain on

Sunday.

Summit forecasts are calling for winds 40 to 50 miles per hour today with below freezing temperatures that will remain through most of Saturday.

Summit windchills today are expected to be in the single digits, teens tomorrow and 20s on Sunday.

The entire region is abnormally dry and the fire danger remains elevated, especially in the Eastern Adirondacks and Champlain Valley. Use caution with open fires this weekend.

Water levels are well below normal, even for this time of year. Late season boaters should be on the look-out for obstacles that are usually covered with water.

Water temperatures are mostly in the 40s, some in the 30s. Boaters are now required to wear a life jacket in vessels less than 21 feet long.

In the High Peaks, the bridge over Indian Pass Brook on the Indian Pass Trail (south of Wallace Lean-to), near the junction of the Calamity Crossover Trail, has been removed. Be prepared to wade the stream there, or find an alternative route.
