During a recent appearance on the Out the Mud podcast, Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant was asked about what his starting five comrpised of "pure hoopers" would be.

After some deliberation, Durant came up with a lineup consisting of Kyrie Irving at point guard, Kobe Bryant at shooting guard, Tracy McGrady at small forward, himself at power forward and Kevin Garnett at center.

Durant acknowledged that he would inevitably have to leave some notable people out and struggled with the decision on Bryant vs. Michael Jordan.

Bryant, Garnett and McGrady are enshrined in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and Durant and Irving will undoubtedly be joining them in the future.

Bryant averaged 25 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists in his career, Garnett averaged 17.8 points, 10 rebounds and 3.7 assists while McGrady averaged 19.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists across his illustrious.

So far, Durant has averaged 27.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists while Irving has posted 23.9 points, 4.8 assists and 4.5 rebounds per night.

The next meeting between two of the game's greatest pure scorers will be on March 9 when Durant's Suns pay a visit to Irving's Mavericks in Dallas.
