Google announced today a big expansion of its Gemini AI in Google Workspace, which is now available in seven new languages. Starting this week, Google Workspace users with a Gemini add-on can use the assistant in German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and French.
These new languages are supported by Gemini in the side panel of Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Gmail. Google Slides will also get additional language support for Gemini in the side panel of the app in the coming months.
Google announced today that more than 100,000 organizations are already using Gemini for Google Workspace. With this expanded language support, Google said that it just made the AI assistant is now accessible to over 1 billion people.
Outside of the Google Workspace apps, the standalone Gemini web app already supports 40 languages. Gemini can also translate captions in a Google Meet video call into 69 languages, and Google said that the AI assistant will soon be able to translate Google Chat messages as well.
Gemini for Google Workspace starts at $20 per user per month for companies opting for the Gemini Business add-on. For individuals, the $19/month Google One AI Premium plan also unlocks access to Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Meet.
