The Arkansas State Police on Monday arrested a former Pike County deputy charged with felony theft after authorities say he pawned guns issued to him by the department, a Tuesday news release states.
Investigators determined that Brandon Vines, 40, of Glenwood failed to return a Colt M16 rifle and a Mossberg 590 shotgun issued to him by the agency, pawning them after he was fired on Dec. 30, the release states. Authorities recovered both guns.
Vines turned himself in at the Pike County jail Monday and pleaded innocent to a felony theft of property count, the release states. His bond was set at $10,000.
The state police investigation began on Jan. 8 after Pike County authorities requested assistance, the release states.
