Playoff Preview: Ocean Springs prepares for round two of football playoffs - WXXV News 25

This week begins round two of playoffs for the majority of our coast teams and only one 7A team remains. With debatably the toughest regular season schedule, ocean springs started off the 2024 season one and four.

Never forgetting the Greyhound way, OS put their heads down and went to work, winning the next six games in a row, becoming regional champions for the fourth consecutive year, and advancing to the second round of playoffs after defeating Northwest Rankin on Friday 24-17.

Head Coach Jake Bramlett knew exactly what he was doing when creating that difficult schedule, and now it's working in his favor to say the least.

"Obviously we're replacing a lot. Defensively especially and on offense we lost five guys too," said second-year Head Coach Jake Bramlett. "The adversity you face early in the season, the reason we scheduled the way we scheduled so they would see the teams you're going to see in the playoffs and it just so happens it's the same exact teams. You get your get back against Northwest, attempting to do the same thing against Oak Grove and you never know Madison Central could be there at the end, so that's what we're trying to get to and the adversity they handled at the beginning of the year and the way they handled it is what's proven themselves right now on why where in the place we're at."

"It means a lot definitely after the record we had at the beginning," said running back Will Smith Jr. "A lot of people counted us out, but now we're the only 7A team on the Coast and those were the same teams talking, so it feels good to keep practicing."

"A lot of people counted us out in the beginning of the season and I feel like we have come a long way. We've been able to come a little bit closer together and work more as a team, and I feel like it's just helped us a lot," said defensive end Bryant Ausmer.
