"When you're really thinking about it, [it's] like a doll," Odom, 45, said during the Tuesday, November 19, episode of the "We're Out of Time" podcast, referring to a sex doll the former NBA player says he purchased. "But then you think about, like, mental health, and how important that is, not just in today's time, but just from the beginning of time."
After host Richard Taite asked, "a sex doll that looks like your wife is about mental health?" Odom replied, "For me, it would be."
Odom admitted that his purchase was out of the ordinary. "It's sick, but I think we're all a little off, a little weird a little bit," he said. "They're gonna make it to look like her. I need, like, a harem."
Odom admitted that he and Kardashian, 40, "don't speak," adding that he "can text her and she'll reply." Odom noted that his and Kardashian's lack of communication was because of "life."
Odom and Kardashian tied the knot in 2009 one month after meeting. The pair had their own reality show, Khloé & Lamar, which aired for two seasons from 2011 to 2012. Kardashian filed for divorce from Odom in December 2013 after multiple sources confirmed to Us Weekly that his battle with substance abuse affected their relationship. Kardashian called off the divorce in 2015 to focus on Odom's health following a near-fatal overdose, but filed once again the following year.
Odom has been candid through the years about his relationship with Kardashian following their split. Odom exclusively told Us in 2021 that he would "love to remain" Kardashian's "friend."
"I'm proud of her and I wish her well," Odom told Us, adding that he's happy Kardashian is living her best life as a mother. "If she was able to take care of a 29-year-old man, I know she'd be great with a baby," he quipped. (Kardashian shares daughter True, 6, and son Tatum, 2, with ex Tristan Thompson.)
Months later, Odom got candid about where he stands with Kardashian. "Unfortunately, you know, due to my behavior and some bad decisions, we don't really talk any longer," Odom said on SiriusXM's Radio Andy in May 2021. "I miss their family tremendously. We have to live with the decisions that we make and then, hopefully in time people heal and [will] be able to forgive me."
Despite their ups and downs, Odom noted that the love he and Kardashian shared holds a special place in his heart.
"Of course, anyone's always gonna miss love," he said at the time. "That's genuine. You know, the personalities, just spending time with them, it was one of the best times in my adult life."
