This year's IndyCar Race Weekend at Iowa Speedway will look a bit different. Hy-Vee is no longer the title sponsor of the only doubleheader on the IndyCar schedule but will remain as an event sponsor.
Also, the big-name entertainment that provided the IndyCar doubleheader at Iowa with a big-event festival, is no longer part of the race weekend.
Because of that, ticket prices will be "significantly reduced" according to officials at the IndyCar Race Weekend at Iowa Speedway.
"Hy-Vee will continue to be a key sponsor of IndyCar Race Weekend at Iowa Speedway this year, though the company will no longer serve as the title sponsor of the July 11-13 event," IndyCar Race Weekend at Iowa Speedway said in a statement requested and obtained by Forbes Sports Money. "We certainly appreciate all that Hy-Vee has done to support this event and the sport of IndyCar racing, and we look forward to our continued partnership in 2025.
"Since IndyCar returned to Iowa in 2022, this event has grown with the passionate fans across the state and throughout the Midwest embracing the unique NTT IndyCar Series doubleheader race format and the exciting oval racing at the 'Fastest Short Track on the Planet.' We will continue to work closely with Hy-Vee and all of our event partners to build on the momentum of IndyCar Race Weekend at Iowa Speedway and add to its legacy as one of the most popular annual sporting events in the state of Iowa for years to come."
Tickets for this year's race will go on sale in March and are expected to include a "significant reduction" because the entertainment aspect of the doubleheader weekend has been eliminated.
The focus in 2025 will be on the track with two 275-lap races - including a 5 p.m. Eastern start on Saturday, July 12 and the conclusion on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. Both races, as are all 17 IndyCar Series races, will be televised on FOX.
The Hy-Vee IndyCar relationship began in 2021 when Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds contacted Randy Edeker, who at the time was the CEO of Hy-Vee, along with Newton, Iowa Mayor and IndyCar owner Roger Penske to help save the .750-mile short oval in Central Iowa.
Edeker retired as Hy-Vee CEO in 2022, but remained as Chairman, a position he held until he officially retired from that position last summer.
Hy-Vee is a large chain of supermarkets throughout the Midwest with its headquarters in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Under Edeker's guidance, Hy-Vee created an event that was part music festival surrounded two IndyCar Series races. In 2022, the concert lineups included Tim McGraw, Florida George Line, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.
In 2023, the concerts included Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band and Ed Sheeran.
Last year's concerts featured Luke Combs, Eric Church, Kelsea Ballerini and Post Malone.
In 2024, Hy-Vee increased its involvement to also include the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Iowa Speedway and the IndyCar doubleheader at The Milwaukee Mile on Labor Day Weekend.
The Milwaukee Mile IndyCar race in 2025 will be sponsored by Wisconsin-based Snap-On Tools.
IndyCar and Penske Entertainment are the promoters of the IndyCar Race Weekend at Iowa Speedway. NASCAR is the owner of the short oval.
