In his quest to break the internet and also the record of most subscribers in YouTube's history by decimating the top gun, Portuguese footballer and content creator Cristiano Ronaldo has brought a new guest on his channel. After much teasing for three days, the Al Nassr captain revealed that the much-anticipated guest would be American YouTuber James Stephen "Jimmy" Donaldson, aka MrBeast. The 26-year-old content creator on YouTube is the most followed internet personality on the platform, with over 330 million subscribers. He is also the third-most-followed creator on TikTok, with over 104 million followers. Earlier in June 2024, MrBeast surpassed T-Series, which netizens dubbed a karmic reward for Swedish YouTuber PewDePie, who earlier lost to the Indian music label in an ugly subscription war. Enter Cristiano Ronaldo, and the stakes have never been higher with the star footballer breaking subscription records by becoming the fastest to garner 1 million and subsequently 50 million subscribers within a week of the channel's launch in August. He earned 10 million subscribers in mere one day. The record was previously held by MrBeast. The duo are now on a polite turf war for YouTube dominance.

But the internet assumed the guest would have been Ronaldo's arch nemesis on the field, Argentina captain Lionel Messi, arguably one of the greatest contemporary footballers alongside the Portuguese captain. Fans believe while MrBeast is a nice addition to his repertoire of YouTube folio, featuring Messi would actually help him break (and win) the internet.
