Firefighter injured, 9 displaced in Buffalo fire

A Buffalo firefighter was injured during an Auburn Avenue fire that also displaced nine people on Saturday.

The Buffalo Fire Department responded to a fire at 675 Auburn Ave. at 1:26 p.m. Saturday. According to the fire department, the fire originated in the attic, then spread through the 2½-story wood frame house.

The firefighter was reported to have suffered minor injuries and was transported for treatment. The nine people - including four children - are being helped by the Red Cross.

Damages are estimated at $400,000 to the structure and $100,000 to its contents. Additionally, there was exposure damage to neighboring properties, including $2,000 in damages to 671 Auburn Ave. and $2,000 to 679 Auburn Ave.

The Buffalo Fire Department said it is continuing its investigation into the cause of the fire.
