A North Carolina Woman Has a Painful Mixup That Lands Her in the Hospital

A medicine cabinet mixup just left a North Carolina woman hospitalized as doctors try to help her out of a painful situation.

The unidentified woman apparently mistook her nail glue for eye drops and accidentally glued her eyes shut.

In a post she captioned, "POV: your mom thought her nail glue was her eye drops," Ria Faggart, the woman's daughter, shared video footage of her mother lying in a hospital bed. The video shows the woman blinking but unable to open her eyes as the sticky substance apparently has them sealed shut.

While we're unsure of the brand of nail glue this woman used, most popular products include label warnings to keep it out of the reach of children and to avoid contact with the skin or eyes.

The original December 27 post has since received over 10 million views and over 11,000 comments, mostly from concerned individuals who are hoping the woman has a quick recovery.

"I hope she's okay, praying that her vision is still intact after this and she comes back from this incident stronger than ever," wrote one commenter.

In a January 1 update, Faggart told followers that her mother is still in a lot of pain and that one of her eyes is still glued shut.

"(ONE) eye is still glued shut. the other eye is closed because it hurts too bad for her to try and open it without the other eye opening. [You] can see the swelling and bruising on her eye. She is still in a lot of pain and her eye is sensitive to light," she captioned her TikTok post.

In the meantime, the family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the woman's expenses while she is out of work.

"She will be out of work and she is a foster mom, so she does not have disability. If you have anything, it would help! Thank you so much," Faggart writes on the page.
